Here's a new speed painting. I call it that only because the video is condensed, this painting took several days to complete. I learn the most from other painters when I can observe their process-I hope these videos are helpful or at the very least interesting. Oil on board. Enjoy.

-this is one of three pieces I'm working on right now all inspired from the same block in LES (Houston street between ave C and D)

b.Space Roast (acrylic, gouache, pencil, ink)

-I've been wanting to finish this for awhile now, I drew this in a Starbucks in November and never had the time to finish painting it.

c.White Tanks (gouache, pencil)

-hiked the White Tanks during my winter break with Chubbs D. William and took some great photos. This is a quick study from a photo.

I'm back....kind of.

The semester is just about over and I'm working hard on finishing my book. I don't want to post anything from the book until it is complete, but in the meantime I thought I'd post some paintings from my oil class. Like most artists, I have studied the human figure for years. I find the human body endlessly fascinating. It amazes me how every figure is perfectly structured. Every figure is balanced and beautiful- I am grateful anyone would afford me the opportunity and I am humbled by my attempts at representing our divine construction.

Santa brought me a new macbook, and now it doesn't take forever to load photos, so I can actually update this thing. Here are some pieces I completed the last semester. These are portraits of homeless veterans from NYC. I would bring them food and attempt to interview them while sketching. I had interesting conversations with some of them, while others refused everything but the food. Many of these pieces still need work, but I think the idea of unfinished work relates to this subject. Hope you enjoy.

Between the poor internet signal at my apartment and the fact that my computer has almost died several times the last month- posting has been difficult. I'm getting better at managing my projects, and I'm going to try to update this thing regularly. Excuses aside, NYC is amazing, its impossible to be uninspired by this city. I'm currently addicted to the met, I saw my first Toulouse-Lautrec and it was a life changing experience. Heres a pic of a gouache painting on cardboard, inspired by Lautrec. When I was looking at places to live I was introduced to this young man named Jesus and I had to paint him.

I'm going to post pics of my studio space and apartment so stay tuned.

I leave for Manhattan on Thursday, and I still have a ton of stuff I need to do. I'm very excited but I'll feel better when I'm all moved in. I painted this about a month ago, I thought it'd be appropriate. oil on wood.

So the original plan was to learn dreamweaver this summer and design and publish my website (jppeer.com), but I don't have the program on my mac and it has been hard to find time with the program. So while I work at dreamweaver I will use this fancy blog with the idea it will eventually be linked to my site.

Though I ate it as a web developer I have been productive this summer with my artwork. I draw just about everyday-so I'm going to try to update the blog daily with a new work. enjoy!
